Obituary

Emily Anne Yish, 19 years old, of Oxford, passed away Wednesday, April 9th, at her home. Emily was born on November 9, 1994 in Derby, Connecticut and was the daughter of David and Tracy (Blood) Yish. She was a 2012 graduate of Oxford High School, where she played basketball for four years and softball during her junior year. She was a sophomore at American International College in Springfield, Massachusetts and had hoped to complete her studies pursuing a degree in physical therapy. While she was in high school, Emily was a volunteer at Griffin Hospital. She also volunteered her time for many causes along with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers Booster Club.
Emily had a passion for sports, including the New York Yankees, the UConn Women's Basketball Team, and especially the Bridgeport Sound Tigers and New York Islanders. She was a member of the BST Booster Club and truly enjoyed sharing her love of hockey with anyone who would listen. During her battle with epilepsy over the past several years she became very friendly with the nurses and doctors at Yale New Haven Hospital.Besides her parents, Emily is survived by her brother, John Yish, her maternal grandparents, Frederick and Lorraine Blood, her paternal grandparents, Dominick and Helena Cardamone. She was predeceased by her paternal grandfather, John F. Yish. She was the niece of Kenneth and Laura Blood, Daniel and Marcia Blood, and Michael and Karen Blood.
