IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Emily J.
Petillo
July 20, 1943 – April 12, 2025
Emily Jean Petillo, 81, a lifelong resident of Waterbury passed away on April 11, 2025. She was the loving and devoted aunt of Gregory N. and Nicole Polletta, great-aunt of Gia Kamdar, sister-in-law of Noel Polletta and many cousins. She was the daughter of the late Maryand Jerome T. Petillo and sister of the late Elaine Petillo. Auntie Em, as she was affectionately known to those who were closest to her, loved her family, friends and Jehovah God most of all.
She was a true artist and created many wonderful things in the culinary, visual and performing arts. She was also a true adventurer and always took the opportunity to excitedly explore both near and far and attended with friends as a delegate a number of International Conventions of Jehovah's Witnesses, the faith of which she was a part of for fifty-five years, in then Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Hungry, and Russia. She worked as a Nurse's Aide in Waterbury Hospital and teacher in Watertown, Waterbury and Bristol public schools, all in Connecticut. She graduated from the University of Hartford with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. Her strong spirit, quick wit, keen intellect, boundless creativity, devoted faith, and care for not only her family and fellow Jehovah's Witnesses but for all people and animals had a profound impact on all of those who were lucky enough to have had the privilege of having her be a part of their lives. Emily's family would like to thank her fellow Brothers and Sisters of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses for their unwavering faith, care and assistance they provided throughout the months that she battled her illness. They would also like to thank the medical staff of St. Mary's Hospital for the steadfast professionalism, attention and expertise that they showed during her last and most challenging of stays. Her funeral and memorial service was held on April 27, 2025, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on North Main Street in Waterbury.
