Mrs. Emily M. Luke, 83, of Heritage Village and formerly of New City, New York died Thursday January 7, 2010 at Danbury Hospital. She was the widow of Joseph C. Luke Sr.
Mrs. Luke was born July 12, 1926 in Bronx, NY, a daughter of the late James and Emily (Bennett) Shanley. Emily was a devoted mother, grandmother and sister and a wonderful friend. She was a member of St. Teresa's Church in Woodbury. She was a volunteer at New Milford Hospital, the Southbury Public Library as well as several other organizations in Heritage Village including the H.V. Ambulance Association and the Women's Club. She was an avid reader and loved traveling, history and politics.
She is survived by her two sons, Joseph C. Luke Jr. and his wife Suzanne of Tappan, NY and Timothy Luke and his wife Peggy of Boise, ID, her daughter Patricia M. Giacone and her husband Joseph of Ridgefield, a sister Rosaleen Gorman of Queens, NY, seven grandchildren, Matthew, Brian and Christine Luke, Kayla and Patrick Luke and Stephanie and Tricia Giacone as well as several nieces and nephews.

Memorials: Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to a charity of the donor's choice.

Services: A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday January 11th at 10am at St. Teresa's Church in Woodbury. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla, NY.

Visitation: Friends may call at the Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson - Lovetere, 2 School St., on Sunday January 10th from 2: 00 - 5: 00pm.
