EMELYN HAUSERMAN
Loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother
OXFORD- Emelyn Hauserman, 77, of Oxford, died after a long illness, Sunday March 25, 2012 at her home. She was the wife of Robert J. Hauserman.
Emelyn was born April 22, 1934 in Paterson, NJ, daughter of the late William and Alma (Scheidler) Saul. She grew up in Hawthorne and Prospect Park, New Jersey and was a graduate of Hawthorne High School and Sherwood Secretarial School in Paterson, NJ. She married her childhood sweetheart, Robert J. Hauserman on January 30, 1954. They lived in the Pines Lake area of Wayne, NJ for 50 years 1958-2008 before moving to Oxford in 2008. Emelyn had worked as the Assistant to the Comptroller at Railway Perishable Agency, NYC and at Ellcon National, NJ.
Although she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in early 2010, she fought it with all her resources, spirit and spark. She never complained of the difficulty of her struggle instead focusing on caring for and enjoying the company of those she loved. She was described as an inspiration by doctors, nurses, friends and neighbors.
Spending time with and enjoying her family was her biggest passion. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed family get togethers and will always be remembered for her warm kitchen, her delicious meals and her loving devotion to her husband and her family. She was always ready to attend soccer games, concerts, dance recitals or school events wherever her children, grandchildren or great grandchildren were involved. She had a wonderful sense of humor, was a great listener and was a great friend to all. Her tremendous spirit and strength and jovial personality will be remembered by all who loved her.
She loved working with colors and took great pride in her flower gardens. She enjoyed painting with water colors although she painted only for herself. She loved the seashore, especially Cape May, NJ, where her family gathered for 28 years. She also loved to read and do crossword puzzles , was an avid NY Mets fan, loved the theater especially Les Miz and any Rogers and Hammerstein shows and both American and British comedies.
She managed the flower arrangements at Easter for her church in Wayne. She selected all the flowers, coaxed some to flower and retarded others always making sure that everything would be in bloom on Easter Sunday. She managed and juried the Preakness NJ Reformed Church's Craft Show for several years. She also co-chaired the lunch room at the church's annual Antique Show.
Besides her husband of over 58 years, she leaves a daughter Lori A. Giannini and her husband Bob of Middlebury, CT, and a son Robert W.
