Ellen L. Thornton, 66 of Washington Ct, died at home on Nov. 26, 2018, after suffering from a long illness. She was born in Mount Kisco NY on Aug. 9, 1952,, daughter of the late Henry A. Lockwood and Jane Kent Lockwood. Ellen graduated from Rippowam High School in Stamford CT in 1970 and from Mount St. Joseph College in Cincinnati Ohio.

Ellen was a registered nurse for over forty years and worked in hospitals in Ohio, Virginia, Texas, Washington and Nevada.

Ellen was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and wife. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening and watching baseball. Most of all, Ellen enjoyed spending time with her family.

Ellen is survived by her husband Thomas of forty three years, daughter Katherine Hirni and husband Wes of Las Vegas NV, son Doug and wife Torri of Livonia Michigan and son Michael and wife Tiffanie, of Irvine CA. Ellen is also survived by grandchildren Cole Hirni, Evelyn Hirni, Parker Thornton, Jack Thornton, Casey Thornton, and Elizabeth Thornton. Ellen is also survived by sisters Laura Hull of Spartenburg SC  and Betty Mahoney of Washington CT.

Ellen was predeceased by her parents and a brother Henry A. Lockwood III.

A funeral mass will be held on Dec. 4, 2018 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church 34 Green Hill Rd Washington Depot CT at 10:00 AM. in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ellen's name can be made to the ALS Association of Ct Chapter 4 Oxford Rd Milford Ct 06460 or to Parkinson's disease research.
