Mrs. Ellen J. Nelson of Woodbury died Sunday April 18, 2010 at Waterbury Hospital. She was the wife of John N. Nelson Jr. Mrs. Nelson was born to the late Bernard and Mary E. (McArdle) Jordan and was raised in Middlebury. She moved to Woodbury in the early 1950's. She loved going to tag sales and working in her gardens. She also enjoyed traveling, especially going to Ireland and Florida to watch the Boston Red Sox spring training and also camping in Vermont.
In addition to her loving husband of 69 years, she is survived by two daughters, Elaine Nelson of Bristol and Maureen Nelson of Woodbury, 7 grandchildren, Kristin Lazauskas, Gretchen Plourde, William Fetzer, Sarah Sullivan, John Stockwell, Jordan Nelson and Lane Nelson, 6 great grandchildren, Maeghen Plourde, Justine Lazauskas, Carolyn Lazauskas, Jordan Plourde, Teallia Sullivan and Emily Sullivan and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son John N. Nelson III, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

Services: A memorial mass will be held on Friday April 23, 2010 at 10am at St. Teresa's Church, Woodbury. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Southbury.
