Elizabeth “Betty” Sibiski Johnson, age 86, of Oxford CT passed away on March 10, 2026, in her home surrounded by her loving family.

A beloved wife and devoted mother, she was born in Bridgeport to the late Joseph and Genevieve DeMarco Sibiski. Betty was a long time Stratford resident before settling in Oxford. She began her professional life as a nurse at Bridgeport Hospital and moved on to Harvey Hubbell, where she met the love of her life, Bill. She later worked at Richardson Vicks and in customer service at Bigelow Tea. Upon her retirement, she greatly enjoyed giving presentations on behalf of Bigelow well into her eighties.

Betty enjoyed singing in the choir at St. James Church in Stratford and the Connecticut Chamber Choir. A woman of great faith, she was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Thomas Church. Family was the center of Betty’s life. She deeply loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and found great joy in attending sporting events, recitals, concerts and celebrating their accomplishments. Betty was quick to smile and brought light and joy to all around her. She welcomed everyone into her home and heart.

She is survived by her devoted husband Bill, her children Marybeth Petrella and husband Ken, Ellen Patrick and husband Roger, and Jim McQuillan and wife Michelle. She is also survived by her stepdaughter Debbie Gasper and husband Alex. Betty was always delighted to be in the company of her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Kenny Petrella and Kate (Christie) Petrella and their children Logan and Peyton, Sophie and Sarah Kritemeyer, Harrison and Mitchell McQuillan, and Matthew and Joseph Gasper. She is survived by her brother Joseph and his wife Marguerite, several cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Betty was pre-deceased by two infant sons, James Vincent and James Joseph McQuillan. The family would like to thank her wonderful friends and neighbors at Meadowbrook and her cousin Rose, all of whom provided companionship and comfort throughout her illness.

Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 from 9:00am until 11:00am at the Southbury location of Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home, 235 Main St. N. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am at St. Thomas the Apostle, Oxford. Burial will follow in Mountain Meadows Cemetery in Seymour.
