Obituary

SOUTHBURY - Elizabeth Fitzgerald Duncan of Southbury, formerly Greenwich, died peacefully at The Hearth in Southbury on September 13, 2016. She was the widow of John F. Duncan.
Elizabeth was born in Fitchburg, Mass. on October 22, 1924. She was the daughter of the late John and Katharine (Toole) Fitzgerald. She spent her childhood in Portland and Bath, Maine and was a graduate of Deering High School. She received her nursing degree from Westbrook (Mercy) College of Nursing in Westbrook, Maine and practiced in Portland and Boston prior to her marriage. A true Mainer at heart, Elizabeth was happiest remembering her hometown of Bath and the many people who had touched her life there.
Elizabeth and John moved their family many times to follow Johns financial career at GE and finally settled in Greenwich in 1967. Following the death of her husband, Elizabeth moved to Southbury in 1998 and settled in Heritage Circle.
Elizabeth was devoted to her family and her faith. She lived her life with love and generosity and her resilient sense of humor touched all who knew and loved her. She brought laughter and cheer to those around her and she will be greatly missed.
She leaves her six children - her son, John Duncan and his wife Penny of New Sharon, Maine; her daughter Deborah Smith and her husband George of Danbury; her daughter Amy Morrell and her husband Doug of Danbury; her son Paul Duncan of Danbury; her son Peter Duncan and his wife Linda of Bristol, and her son Marc Duncan and his wife Maria of Woodbury.
