Obituary

Elizabeth Marsha Carbonneau, 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday October 30, 2016 at St Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT. She was the daughter of Beatrice Quinn Colaer and Benjamin Friedman Colaer of South Britain, CT.
Elizabeth, known as Beth to her family, was raised in Bridgeport and Southbury. She attended Newtown high school for 3 years and graduated from Southbury High School in 1956, where she was a cheerleader and earned her varsity letter. She also attended Post Junior College. She married Edward Arthur Casey and settled in Southbury. After the loss of her first husband she married Alan Carbonneau and the family moved to Middlebury, Ct.
She worked as a medical secretary to Dr Martha Raphael and Dr Aldo Chavez. She had a great love for antiques, especially vintage clothing and linens as well as jewelry. She was a partner in an Antique business in Woodbury and also attended many antique shows, 'peddling her wares' as she put it. She loved to peruse flea markets and antique shops in the Northwest Hills of CT. She loved her farmhouse in Middlebury where she raised chickens, baked pies and breads and loved to sit out in the sun.
Her later years were spent mainly at home due to the progression of her Multiple Sclerosis. She lived at Hughes Health and Rehabilitation in West Hartford to be closer to her daughters for the last 5 years. She loved listening to Neil Diamond, was interested in what going on with her neighbors in the nursing home, always was made her wishes known and developed close relationships with the staff at Hughes. Even with the progression of her disease, she was truly interested and involved in our lives and the goings on of her family, especially her grandchildren. She never stopped worrying about us and mothering us. Our visits always brightened her day and ours.
She is survived by her husband, Alan Carbonneau of Middlebury; 3 daughters, Coleen (Casey) James of Windsor; Megin (Casey) Coleman and her husband Ronald of Avon; Martha (Casey) Flannery and her husband Michael of West Hartford; 8 grandchildren, Casey, Daniel, and Samuel James; Jared, Jacob and Benjamin Coleman; and Kelly and Heather Flannery; and one great grandson, Lucas, son of Jared Coleman; her sister Joann Raney; special cousin Marie Canfield and her husband Lee; and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, her first husband, her brother Samuel Colaer, and infant daughter Leslie Elizabeth.
