Obituary


Mrs. Eleanor L. Rose, 87, of Southbury died Wednesday May 12, 2010 at the Lutheran Home of Southbury. She was the widow of Kenneth J. Rose. Mrs. Rose was born May 28, 1922 in Chelsea, Massachusetts a daughter of the late James J. and Mary (Scully) Leahy.
Eleanor attended Tufts College and graduated in 1944 with a degree in physical education. She graduated from NYU in 1952 with a degree in physical therapy, a profession that she enjoyed for many years. Later, Eleanor enjoyed winters in Florida and time spent with her grandchildren and friends. The family thanks the Lutheran Home of Southbury for their care, especially the aides working on the Yellow Brick Road.
She is survived by two daughters, Denise Rose and her partner Guy Veilleux of Woodbury and Cynthia Gaertner and her husband Todd of Burlington, two granddaughters, Karin and Kim Gaertner of Burlington and four sisters, Marie Leahy, Francis Leahy, Sister Jean Leahy (CSJ) and Barbara Leahy, all of Massachusetts. She was pre-deceased by a sister, Louise, and a brother, James.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lutheran Home, 990 Main St. North, Southbury, Ct 06488.

Location: Munson-Lovetere Woodbury

Funeral: St. Teresa's Church

Services: A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday May 17, 2010 at 11am at St. Teresa's Church in Woodbury. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Visitation: Friends may call at the Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson - Lovetere, 2 School St., on Monday from 9 - 10: 30am.
