Mrs. Eleanor (Ball) Monckton, 84, of Woodbury passed away Thursday November 2nd at her home. Mrs. Monckton was born July 26, 1922 in Meriden, daughter of the late Arthur A. and Phoebe (Chapman) Ball. She worked as the school Librarian for the Bethlehem Consolidated School and was also the Librarian for the town of Bethlehem. She worked as Librarian for The Central Books Services Unit in the Connecticut State Library and finished her career as the Librarian for the blind and handicapped where she also started a program for developing talking books throughout the state of Connecticut. She performed a lifetime of community service. She was also a member of the 1st Congregational Church of Woodbury and enjoyed music, reading, playing the organ and her fast cars.
She is survived by two sons, David Monckton of Woodbury, Donald Monckton formerly of Newtown, a daughter Dianne Marco of Naugatuck, a brother Arthur A. Ball of Del Rey Beach, FL, 5 grandchildren, Richard, Jamie, Daniel, Lindsey, and Thomas Monckton, and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Monday November 6th from 4:00 - 6:00pm at the Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson - Lovetere, 2 School St. A celebration of life to be held at the 1st Congregational Church of Woodbury Tuesday November 7th at 11:00am. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
