Obituary


Eleanor Gallagher, 64, of Heritage Village died Friday, October 22nd at Danbury Hospital. She was the wife of William Gallagher.
Mrs. Gallagher was born December 5, 1945 in Manhattan, New York a daughter of the late John and Anna Swider. She is survived by her husband, Bill, who lovingly cared for her during her illness, her daughters, Liane and Joy, who were the light of their mom's life; her beloved sisters, Kathleen Greenfield and Patricia Sammarco; her brothers, Edward Swider and Michael Swider; her sisters-in-law who were sisters in her heart, Susan Cullen, Kathleen Hopkins, Kathy Swider and Joanie Swider; her brothers-in-law, Frank Reda and Brian Greenfield, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, Chris and Katie Cullen, Mark, Jen and Jeff Reda, Howard, Bill and Bonnie Hopkins, Glenn, Ann Marie and Rocky Sammarco, Danny Greenfield, Damien Martinez, E.J. and Rosie Swider. Eleanor was predeceased by a sister-in-law, Patty Reda and a brother-in-law, Sam Sammarco.
Eleanor's life has been touched by so many friends, especially her buddies from Queens, and by the many wonderful people she worked with, especially her co-workers in the Mamaroneck School District where she enjoyed working for over 24 years.
Being a good friend was very important to Eleanor and she appreciated the love that was returned. She was so grateful for the prayers and thoughts from all of them and knew that it was these sacrifices that helped her to make the end of her life's journey closer to God.

Funeral: Sacred Heart Church

Services: A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, October 26th at 10: 00 at Sacred Heart Church, 910 Main St. South, Southbury, CT. Entombment will follow in Queen of Peace Mausoleum in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury.

Visitation: Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 25th from 3 - 5 and 7 - 9pm in the chapel at Sacred Heart Church and again Tuesday morning from 9am until the time of service.
