Obituary

Mrs. Eileen M. Shrewsbury, 87, of South Britain Rd., died Sunday January 24th at Waterbury Hospital. She was the wife of James S. Shrewsbury.
Mrs. Shrewsbury was born March 19, 1922 in England the daughter of the late Mornington Victor and Alice May (Cragg) Brown. In her younger years she excelling in sports and was a competitive swimmer. After the war she worked for the National Food Office in England. She loved music and was a member of the choir and also the Uniroyal Glee Club. She was President of the Women's Fellowship and co-chaired the Rummage sale for many years at the United Church of Christ in Southbury. She was President of the Southbury Garden Club and was a keen bridge player. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for over 15 years. An avid golfer, she once got a hole in one. She was a wonderful hostess and entertainer in her home or abroad. She widely traveled around America, Canada, Mexico, Europe and Egypt, Greece and Ephesus in Turkey. She was a great lover of animals.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her niece, Jill Michel of Garden City, Long Island, New York.

Services: A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 30th at 11am at the United Church of Christ, Southbury.
