Eileen Sullivan Macchiarulo passed away peacefully at home on January 9th. Born July 8, 1933 Eileen was a lifelong resident of Norwalk before retiring to Southbury, CT to be closer to her children. She graduated from Norwalk High School in 1952 and went on to work in Norwalk for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, The Norwalk Anesthesiologist Group, And Preferred Properties, where she sold Real Estate for over 25 Years, before retiring as manager of The Norwalk Office.
Eileen married Rocco Macchiarulo in May of 1958 and had three children, Angela, Karen, And Mark. During her retirement Eileen spent time visiting with her children and attending activities with her grandchildren.
Eileen was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, as well as several of her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children Angela Macchiarulo and her husband Bernd Woerner of Bridgewater, Karen Kutzner and her husband David of Southbury, and her son Mark Macchiarulo and his wife Lynne of Louisville, KY. In addition to her children, Eileen was blessed with nine grandchildren: Evan, Reed and Kurt Woerner, Griffin and Megan Kutzner, and Monica, Morgan, Michael, and Mackenzie Macchiarulo. Eileen also leaves behind her Brother Gene Sullivan and his wife Dottie, Sisters Ann Magro and Molly Hall, and sisters-in-law Angela and Antoinette Macchiarulo.
Though diagnosed with Alzheimer's over ten years ago, Eileen would not allow the disease to alter her life or impact the time she spent with her family.
The family will receive mourners at St. Teresa's of Avila Catholic Church, on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 146 Main Street South in Woodbury, CT, at 9:00 am followed by a Funeral Mass At 10:00am. In lieu of flowers donations to The Alzheimer's Association would be greatly appreciated.
