Obituary

Edward Lee Woods, beloved husband of Judy Woods of Southbury, died Saturday July 23rd at River Glen Health Care Center in Southbury with his wife and children by his side.
Born 10/9/1936 in Ridgewood NJ to the late Arthur Woods and Margaret (Vandyke) Woods, he graduated Ridgewood High School 1956 and joined the AirForce in 1958, served 8 years 4 months during the Vietnam War with honorable discharge in 1966.
Ed then went to Teterboro School of Aeronautics in New Jersey and graduated with an Associate's Degree in Aircraft and Powerplant Mechanics.
Mr Woods then went to work for TransWorld Airlines as a mechanic and moved up to Lead Mechanic and then to Master Mechanic ,retiring after 25 years with the company. After retirement he drove a school bus for several years, and then joined his wife in her business of raising and selling baby parrots in a retail shop in Danbury. Ed and Judy had a passion for visiting Scotland and the Isle of Skye and made many visits over the years.
He leaves his wife Judy of 57 years, his daughter Dr. Robyn Hawley and her husband Reverend Bill Hawley, his daughter Kathy Woods, his son Edward L. Woods Jr. and his wife Betsy, 5 grandchildren--Jeff, Ben, Rose, Lily and Abeh, 2 great-grandchildren Gavin and Derek, and his brother James Woods. Much of ED's life was dedicated to the care of animals--volunteering for the Delaware Humane Society for many years. He had a special touch with all animals, able to calm them and train them well. He was often called by his friends 'the bird whisperer'.
