Obituary

Edward Ed OKeefe, 63, of 229 Bacon Pond Rd., Woodbury, died Friday August 4th at Yale New Haven Hospital with his wife of 41 years, Dorie, at his side after a long, determined struggle with cancer. Mr. OKeefe was born November 8, 1942 in New Haven, son of the late Joseph J. and Irene Mary (Maher) OKeefe.
Ed lived in Woodbury since 1974 where he and his wife operated the Answering Service of Woodbury until 1986. He was active and always present at his sons, Chris and Scotts sports activities in town. He was the President of the Woodbury Ambulance Association in 1976 and an employee at the Southbury Training School until retirement in 2004.
Ed was the proud father of Lynn Lindahl and the adoring father of Meghann OKeefe. Love for his grandchildren abounded in Ed and he was always eager to spend time with them. His sister, Irene of West Haven survives him as do devoted cousins from the Maher family.
Walking on Main Street, socializing at the former Kettle and an ever positive smile and attitude were his trademarks.
Calling Hours for his friends to say goodbye will be held at the Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson Lovetere, 2 School St., on Monday August 7th from 5-8pm.
