Obituary

Middlebury- Edward Leonard Frisbie, 79, of Middlebury passed away on Monday, June 6, 2022.

Ed was born in Bridgeport, the son of the late Edward J. and Ann B. Frisbie.  He grew up in Milford and graduated from Milford High School in 1960.  Ed joined the United States Navy after graduation, completed his basic training at Great Lakes and was assigned to the Pacific Missile Range at Point Magu, CA.  After his naval career, Ed remained on the West Coast for several years, relocating to Auburn, CA.  He took a position at McClellan AFB, working on aircraft power systems.  With additional training and some formal college, he became flight-line certified.  On his return to the East Coast in the early 1970s, Ed went to work for Sikorsky Aircraft working on helicopter power systems.  There he met his late wife, Diane McWilliams Frisbie.  They were married for 46 years.  After Sikorsky, Ed took a position as head mechanic for a Ford Tractor dealership in Norwalk, where he became diesel and hydraulic certified.  He was DPW Director for the Town of Westport.   At the time of his death, Ed was employed as a Municipal Equipment Specialist at Tri-State Equipment Rebuilding, Inc. in Oxford.

Ed was a man of many skills – plumbing, electrical, framing and construction.  His hobbies included modeling; he loved old steam engines and old wooden boats.  He also was a camera buff.  He and Diane enjoyed traveling, especially to Rockport, MA and they raised their beloved German Shepherds. Of all his many talents, Ed especially knew how to be a friend.  He will be missed by anyone who crossed his path and had the honor of knowing with him. Ed is survived by his brother, Kenneth (Linda) Frisbie; his sister, Mary Lee Frisbie; his nephew, Mathew Frisbie; his nieces, Dana (David) Frye and Kimberly Frisbie; and his great nieces, Aurora and Hailey Frye; several cousins and many friends.  Ed was recently pre-deceased by the last of his German Shepherds, Brandy.
