Edith Mary Springsteen-DiGangi
December 10, 1946 – May 25, 2026With profound sadness and unwavering faith in God’s promise of eternal life, we announce the passing of Edith Mary Springsteen-DiGangi, beloved wife, mother, nana, sister, aunt, and friend, who entered peacefully into the arms of the Lord on May 25, 2026.
Born on December 10, 1946, in Brooklyn, New York, Edith was the cherished daughter of Edith and Harold Springsteen. She grew up surrounded by family and graduated from West Hempstead High School in 1966, carrying with her the kindness, warmth, and strong values that would define her life.
Edith shared a beautiful and devoted marriage of 57 years with the love of her life, Edward DiGangi. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and unconditional love. Their marriage was a testament to commitment, friendship, and enduring devotion.
Above all else, Edith’s greatest joy was her family. She was a loving and devoted mother to her daughters, Amy and Sara, and held a special place in her heart for her sons-in-law, GJ and Ryan, whom she loved dearly.
She was the proud and adoring Nana to four beloved grandchildren, Abigail, Finn, Everleigh & Madison, each of whom brought immeasurable happiness to her life.Edith is also survived by her loving siblings, Vicki, Bill, Barbara, Kathy, and Edward, as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were touched by her kindness and gentle spirit.
Throughout her career, Edith worked as an Information Operator for the New York Telephone Company, a Receptionist for Goldman, Horowitz & Cherno, and later as a Switchboard Operator for Duracell. She brought dedication, professionalism, and warmth to every role she held.
Edith found joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments. She loved scrapbooking, backyard campouts, bowling, and creating lasting memories with those she loved most. She treasured family gatherings, holidays, and every opportunity to spend time with her children and grandchildren. Her home was always filled with love, laughter, and a welcoming spirit.
A devoted animal lover, Edith adored her beloved dogs Sissy, Peteau, Molly, and Leo, who brought her comfort and companionship throughout the years.
A woman of faith, Edith was a firm believer in God and His angels. Her faith guided her through life’s joys and challenges and gave her peace and strength. Those who loved her find comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with loved ones who have gone before her and rests safely in God’s eternal embrace.
Though our hearts are broken by her absence, we are forever grateful for the love she gave so freely, the memories she created so lovingly, and the example she set through a life lived with grace, compassion, and faith. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished and in all those fortunate enough to have known her.
Flowers are warmly welcomed and appreciated. For those who wish to honor Edith’s memory in another way, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a cause that was close to her heart.
