Obituary


E. Michael Davies, 74, of Woodbury Ct. passed away on February 19, 2016 after a six month battle with lung cancer. Mike was born on January 24, 1942 in Yorkshire, England to the Reverend Enoch and Connie Davies. Mike was educated in England first at Ludgrove Preparatory School and then attended the Harrow School. He received an advanced degree in chemistry from Durham University.
Shortly after completing his education Mike joined Camvac International in Thetford England and in 1976 he was asked to launch its business in the United States. Camvac was eventually sold to Bowaters Inc., a British conglomerate. In 1988 he and Allan Wolfe of Bridgewater, Ct. co-founded Flagship Converters Inc. located in Danbury, Ct. Flagship is a very successful manufacturing company specializing in the decorative products industry. Mike developed deep friendships with many people there and continued to work until shortly before his death.
Mike was married to Anne M. Slattery in 1978 and despite their divorce in 2003 they continued to be each other's best friend and maintained residences on adjoining properties in Woodbury, Ct. As befitting of a best friend, Anne was by Mike's side during his entire illness.
Mike was a great sportsman having played Rugby and Cricket in England and in the United States. He also maintained a small farm in Woodbury where he raised Scottish Highland Cattle and was an avid gardener. He was a dedicated member of St Paul's Church in Woodbury which was a special part of his life and where he had many wonderful friends.
Mike is survived by his sister Vicky (Ann Veronica) and her husband Michael Roper who live in Somerset West, South Africa. Mike and Vicky maintained a very close relationship throughout their lives and no matter where in the world they each were they spoke on the telephone every Sunday at 1:00 P.M. for over 50 years.

Services: A funeral Mass with be held at St Paul's Episcopal Church at 294 Main St South, Woodbury, on Friday , March 4th at 10: 00 A.M. Followed by a reception in the church hall.
