IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Douglas Eugene
Richardson
September 12, 1959 – February 15, 2013
Douglas Eugene Richardson, 53, of Woodbury was lifted from this world and taken to be seated next to his Almighty Father on February 15, 2013.
Douglas was born on September 12, 1959 in Johnson City, Tennessee to the late Rual Richardson and Lucy Garland Richardson. Gene later moved to Southbury and grew up in Cederland on the Pomperaug River.
Gene recently retired from Southbury Training School after working there for 33 years. It was more than a job for him. It touched his heart working with the clients. It gave him peace, enjoyment and fulfillment to help them.
Everyone knew Gene's love for fishing. He always kept his fishing pole in his truck. To sneak away, for that one cast. He was a jack of all trades, whether it was fixing a leaky pipe, whittling a walking stick, making pouches out of leather or creating incredible wood furniture out of scraps. Gene was a calm, strong willed, do it himself, Mr. fix-it, mans-man.
Gene was a wonderful family man, a loving father and husband. He brought the spirit and strength of the Lord to many. He was a strong believer in his faith. Gene used his strength in God to help others. Always with an open heart, he enlightened many.
Gene is survived by his wife of 8 years, Shari (Henne) Richardson of Woodbury; son, Shane Richardson of Watertown; daughter, Justine Richardson of Naugatuck; brothers, Clifford Richardson and his wife Kathy of Vermont, Donald Richardson and his wife Sue of Connecticut and Dave Richardson and his wife Sally of Connecticut; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Darrel Wayne Richardson and Keith "PT" Richardson. Gene is also survived by his first wife of 22 years, Darlene (Trepiccione) Richardson of Watertown.
Look out of any window
Any morning, any evening, any day
Maybe the sun is shining
Birds are winging or -
Rain is falling from a heavy sky
What do you want me to do,
To do for you to see you through?
This is all a dream we dreamed
One afternoon long ago
Walk out of any doorway
Feel your way, feel your way
Like the day before
Maybe you'll find direction
Around some corner
Where it's been waiting to meet you -
What do you want me to do
To watch for you while you're sleeping?
Well please don't be surprised
When you find me dreaming too.
