- Dorothy M. (Coates) Valente, 95, of Watertown, died Saturday March 1, 2014 at Waterbury Hospital.

Dorothy was born November 5, 1918 in Enfield, NH, daughter of the late John and Alice (Canfield) Coates. She has resided in Watertown for many years. She was the former owner of the Sunrise Luncheonette in Waterbury for 3 years. Dorothy was a senior companion for NOW Inc. Dorothy loved to cook and took pride in her baking and her rice pudding was a favorite to her whole family, for whom she adored.

She is survived by two sons, James Valente of Waterbury and John 'Jack' Linton of NY, a brother, Herbert Coates of Warren, RI, two sisters, Anna Laurette Lattrell of M iddlefield, CT and Hilda Islom of Hammond IN., six grandchildren and several geat grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a brother Herbert Coates.

Funeral: Church Not Applicable

Services: Funeral services will be held on Wednesday March 5th at The Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 2 School St. at 11 a.m. Burial will take place in New North Cemetery in the spring.

Visitation: Friends may call the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
