IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy J.
Manzi
May 10, 1928 – August 5, 2021
Woodbury- Dorothy S. Manzi passed away peacefully at her beloved summer home in Cape Cod looking over the water on Thursday August 5th. Born May 10th 1928, to Francis and Mary Sousa, she was a wife to Edward Manzi for 67 years. She was the mother to Guy Manzi and wife Paula, Patricia Solami and husband Al, and Raymond Manzi and wife Dana. Grandmother to Craig Manzi and his wife Karen, Chris Manzi and fiancé Stephanie, Anthony Manzi and wife Jenna, and Megan Spain, and great grandmother to Olivia Manzi.
Growing up in Naugatuck Connecticut, she graduated from Naugatuck High School, married Edward Manzi, and moved to Woodbury to raise her family. Dorothy was not just a home maker, but also a crafter, painter, leather worker, sewer, knitter (she believed everyone needed at least one blanket), carpenter, and gardener.
She will live on through her countless handcrafted gifts she has left with her family, and through every "way of doing things better" she taught us. She loved to entertain family and friends at her home on the on the Cape as well as watch the boats of all sizes and the fireworks on the 4th of July
No task was insurmountable, whether building a barn or simply helping her kids with their many school projects, she tackled each with determined resolve. She was actively involved, with her kids upbringing, worked with the church, overseeing catholic classes, as a room mother and team mom, and provided "taxi" services for all the activities the kids were involved in. She loved of animals all shapes and sizes, especially her last dog Bido
Dorothy loved life and was willing to try anything at least once. She traveled the world with her husband and their closest friends. These trips always included at least one or two hands of pinochle, a card game that she loved to play.
Dorothy was an extremely giving person and willing to help those in need. She loved to cook for her family and believed that there was always enough for one more at the table. She was a woman of strong will and conviction. She believed that you should do what you say you going to do, but most importantly always be willing to help others.
The entire family would like to express heart felt thanks to Dorothy's care givers, especially Theresa, Christine, and Kerrin, and Cape Cod VNA Hospice for their care and compassion.
