Mrs. Dorothy Jeanne (Guler) MacKenzie, 82, of Southbury died Monday November 30th at Danbury Hospital. She was born October 3, 1927 daughter of the late Roy and Bertha (Ruetsche) Guler. She graduated from Wheaton (Illinois) High School. Jeanne worked as a secretary to the insurance industry in Chicago. She met her husband, Donald MacKenzie and they were married for 52 years. Donald passed away on October 14, 2005. They raised their family in Mount Prospect, IL and moved to Connecticut in 1966. She volunteered for 10 years at Waterbury Hospital. Jeanne was active at the Middlebury Congregational Church, where she knitted mittens and hats for the needy, until she moved to Sandy Hook in 1991. She then became active in the Newtown United Methodist Church. She worked the election polls for many years in Middlebury and Newtown. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and starting her day off with Regis and Kelly.
Jeanne is survived by her sister, Ruth Pennington of Brighton, MI and her brother, Robert Guler of Sandwich, IL. She will be deeply missed by her son, David W. MacKenzie of Newtown and her daughter, Lynn Clinton and her husband Dennis of Bristol.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Newtown United Methodist Church, 92 Church Hill Rd., Sandy Hook, Ct 06482 or to the Harold Leever Cancer Center, 1075 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, Ct 06708.

Services: A funeral service will be held on Friday December 4th at 12: 00pm at the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson - Lovetere, 235 Main St. North. Burial will follow in New North Cemetery, Woodbury.
Visitation: Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Friday from 10: 00am until the time of service.
