Obituary

Dorothy Guntner, 95, of Southbury, CT, a former resident of Pleasantville, NY, died October 16, 2014 at Pomperaug Woods Health Care Center. She was the widow of Charles (King) Guntner, her husband of 52 years. She was born February 5, 1919 in Bronx, New York, daughter of the late Sidney and Harriet Berney. Dorothy graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in Yonkers, NY and worked at the Mt. Pleasant Public Library for twenty years. During the last several of her work years she served as Program Director. She volunteered at Mt. Kisco Twigs and at the Thriftree. Formerly of Heritage Village in Southbury, she volunteered for 12 years at the Heritage Village Library and served as President for two years, as well as treasurer of her condo board. She enjoyed reading, music and needlepoint. She is survived by her sons, Charles Guntner and his wife Cecilia and Peter Guntner and his wife Marilyn; two sisters, Leoni Ross of Highland Falls, NY and Bernice Norman of Southbury, CT; 4 grandchildren, Monica Ryan, Amy Ferguson, Jennifer Madison, Lauren Morris; 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Margie Duke.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Regional Hospice and Home Care of Western Connecticut.

Cemetery: Cemetery Not Applicable

Location: Munson-Lovetere Southbury

Services: A gathering of friends and family will be held Saturday, October 25 at Noon at Pomperaug Woods, 80 Heritage Road, Southbury, CT.

Visitation: There are no calling hours.
