Dorothy (Dot) Gliford, 79, died Saturday April 8, 2023 at River Glen in Southbury. Dot was born in Hartford on April 14, 1943 daughter of the late Dora and Galen Groves. She grew up in Southbury and attended Southbury schools.

Dot retired from the Southbury Training School where she worked for over  20 years. She enjoyed crafts, crocheting, painting and line dancing. She was an avid Yankees fan and loved Derrick Jeter.

Dot was married to the late Arthur Gliford for over 30 years, they enjoyed cruises, gardening, family gatherings and making people laugh.

Her survivors include her son Richard Zavednak (Dawn),  Jim Zavednak (Val),  3 grandchildren Zachary Zavednak, Courtney Zavednak-Bochicchio, Alyssa Zavednak, and one great grandchild Joey, her four sisters Mariette Bardelli, Kathy Gillotti, Chris Rivers, Jean Baran and her beloved poodle Bree.

Besides her husband she is predeceased by her sisters Gale and Mary Groves, and  her brother Jim Groves.

A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday April 13, from  5 to 7 pm at at the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 235 Main Street North.
