Dorothy Angelucci Martinez, who graced this world with her presence on October 10, 1943, in the vibrant city of New York, passed away peacefully at home on July 18, 2026, with her beloved daughter Elissa by her side. Her passing marks the end of a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer and a life characterized by love, generosity, and unyielding positivity.

Born to Nicholas and Pauline Angelucci, Dorothy was the third of five siblings. She grew up in a bustling household that laid the foundation for her strong family values. Preceded in death by her parents, her husband Marty Martinez, son Christopher Angelucci, and siblings Nicholas, Joseph, and Joan, Dorothy remained a pillar of strength for her surviving family members: daughters Cynthia (with husband Don) and Elissa; cherished grandchildren Joshua (with significant other MaKenzie), Emily (with husband Thomas), and Julianna; her sister AnnMarie (with husband Dominic); sister-in-law Melanie; and her many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her close friend Miriam and a multitude of friends and acquaintances also mourn her passing.

Dorothy and Marty shared 17 beautiful years of marriage, raising their three children in a home filled with love and guided by their Catholic faith. Following Marty's untimely departure, Dorothy dedicated her life to her family and community, never remarrying but instead channeling her energy into nurturing her loved ones and friendships.

Dorothy's professional journey began after graduating high school in 1962 when she embarked on a career as a secretary. Her diligence and adaptability led her to the New York phone company, which later became part of Verizon. She embraced various roles, continually seeking new learning opportunities and retiring in 2008 after a fulfilling career. Known for her robust lunchtime Scrabble games, Dorothy's love for words was paralleled only by her love for people.

A devoted volunteer, Dorothy dedicated countless hours to the Nativity of Our Blessed Lady Grammar School Bingo Nights and led a Girl Scout troop for three years. She was a valued member of several Catholic parishes, including Nativity of Our Blessed Lady in the Bronx, St. Gregory in New Fairfield, CT, and Sacred Heart Church in Southbury, CT.

Dorothy's passions extended beyond her professional and volunteer commitments. An avid Scrabble player, she excelled in the art of cooking and entertaining and could often be found immersed in a good book or puzzle. Her upbeat attitude and positivity were contagious, and she was always eager to lend a helping hand, whether it was offering financial support, a place to stay, or a comforting meal. Her favorite charity, The Smile Train, reflected her generous spirit and dedication to helping others. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and resilience. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and her memory will be cherished by her family, friends, and community.

Family and friends may visit on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 8:30 until 10:30 am at Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home, 2 School St. Woodbury, CT 06798. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 am at St. Teresa of Avila Church in Woodbury. Burial will be at a later date.
