Dorothea Ann Hurd (Dottie), loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away November 6, 2022 at her home in Roxbury, CT, after a brief illness.

Dottie was born in Bridgeport, CT on January 20, 1942, the only child of Helen (Wielk) and John Brzozowski. She met the love of her life, Bill, in 1962 and a year later they married. Dottie earned a nursing certificate, but that career only lasted a year before finding her true vocation and embarking on the greatest joy of her life - being a mom. In addition to raising five children, Dottie was the bookkeeper for Hurd Construction, Co., a role she held for nearly 40 years.

In addition to raising a family, Dottie loved to go on cruises with her beloved Bill, spent time with her knitting and needlepoint, and volunteered at St. Teresa Catholic Church. Her family and friends were often spoiled by Dottie's baking abilities, especially her cookies, and her ability to share her love and stories while enjoying her treats. She had an incredibly generous and lively spirit, passionate about her family, friends, and community.

Dottie is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Bill, and their five children John (April), Bill (Nicole), Paul, Jill (Erik Noeding), and Scott (Lauren). She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren who provided her joy, hope, and inspiration- Brandon (Victoria), Aaron, Makayla, Ali, Monica, Jeffrey, Matthew, Lauren, Jensen, and Kristina

Funeral services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Southbury, CT, on Saturday, November 26. Visitation will be held from 9:45-10:45 a.m. in the Daily Chapel of Sacred Heart Church. A mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. A private burial for the family will be immediately following at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Roxbury, CT.
