Obituary

Doris L. Uhlig Age 98, from Southbury, CT, passed away peacefully on Saturday November 2nd at River Glen Health Center in Southbury, Ct.
She was born on May 18, 1915 in Clifton, NJ to Hjalmar and Astrid Thulin.
Doris graduated from Paterson (NJ) Teachers college and taught grammar school for several years.
She married her best friend's brother, Edwin Carl Uhlig and they took up residence in Warwick, RI where they raised their 2 daughters, Sandra and Gail.
Her husband was transferred to South Bend, Indiana, where they lived together until his passing in 1967. In 1969, she moved with her daughter back east to Ct and lived briefly in Wallingford before settling in Southbury, which she called home for 41 years.
She adored spending time with her family, especially her 3 grandsons, Mark, Peter and Steve Willis. She was very fortunate to be able to spend many holidays and birthdays , to attend all three of her grandson's weddings and to be able to spend time with their wives and 2 Great granddaughters , Adelaide and Natalie.
Doris was a lifelong, diehard Yankee fan.
She also enjoyed helping care for many homeless dogs in her house until they could find their new families.
Doris loved being a home maker and was fortunate to be able to live at home, until July 2013 when she moved to River Glen.
Doris is survived by 2 daughters, Gail Uhlig of Southbury and Sandra Willis and her husband Harry of Scotia, NY , her 3 Grandsons and their wives Elizabeth, Sarah and Christine Willis and 2 great granddaughters. She is also survived by her Sister-in-law Greta Uhlig and 3 nieces.

Memorials: Due to her love for animals of all kinds, we are asking (in lieu of flowers) that donations be sent to Spotty Dog Rescue , PO Box 1571, Waterbury, CT 06721.

Cemetery: Cemetery Not Applicable

Location: Munson-Lovetere Southbury

Services: A memorial service will be held at 1pm on Monday Nov 11, at Munson Lovetere Funeral home 235 Main St North, Southbury, CT 06488 . Her family and friends will gather to celebrate her long and happy life.

Visitation: There are no calling hours.
