Doris H. McCarthy, 68, of Woodbury, CT passed away on November 1, 2015 at Yale New Haven Hospital. Doris was predeceased by her parents Anthony and Doris Caputo, brother Anthony Caputo and her husband, John C. McCarthy.

Doris was born on August 4, 1947 in Newburgh, NY and graduated from Marlboro Central High School in 1965. She then furthered her education by attending nursing school and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. Doris later attended Dutchess Community College and obtained her Registered Nursing Degree in 1983. Nursing was her passion and she dedicated 49 years of her life caring for her patients with compassion and integrity. Her love of nursing and professionalism earned her several awards and recognitions throughout her career, including Nurse of Distinction in NYS and an Official Citation from the City of Waterbury, CT in honor of her extraordinary dedication to the nursing profession.

Doris touched many lives and will always be remembered for her quick wit and great sense of humor. Her hobbies included cooking, reading and spending time with her family and loved ones.

Survivors include; her fiancé© and partner William Schreier of Woodbury, CT, her daughter Denise Daly and husband George Daly, of Port Henry, NY; daughter Dawn Curran and husband Jim Curran, of Port Henry, NY; son Kevin Darcy II and wife Stephanie Darcy of Milton, NY and her seven grandchildren; Cory Daly, Jimmy, Heather and Kayla Curran and Kevin III, Leeland and Sophia Darcy.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the American Heart and/or Diabetes Association.

Services: There will be no calling hours, per her request; a graveside service for immediate family members will be held. A memorial service for extended family and friends will be held on a later date.
