Dora D. Groves, 87, of Upper Fish Rock Road died Monday May 12, 2008 surrounded by her family at St. Mary's Hospital. Ms Groves was born in Keegan, Maine on May 9, 1921 daughter of the late William and Adele (Violette) Duplessis. She had worked at the Southbury Training School for over 25 years, and enjoyed knitting, crafts, quilting and painting.
She is survived by her longtime loving companion, Sidney Platt III of Southbury, her son, Jim Groves of Palm Bay, FL, her 5 daughters Dot Gliford of Naugatuck, Mariette Bardelli, of Southbury, Kathy Gillotti of Southbury, Chris Rivers of Naugatuck, Jean Baran of Middlebury, 2 sisters Mary Stauch of East Hartford, Germaine Acevedo of The Villages, Fl, 20 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by 2 daughters: Gale & Mary Groves.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Harold Leever cancer center, 1075 Chase Parkway Waterbury CT 06708.
