Obituary

Donald S. Walker, 86, of Woodbury, died Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital. He was the husband of Dorothy A. (Dinka) Walker.

Mr. Walker was born May 19, 1924 in Tillson Burg, Ontario Canada, son of the late Thomas Reginald and Bessie (Alan) Walker. He resided in Woodbury most of his life. After graduating high school, Mr. Walker enlisted in the Army reserves and then returned to active duty in the US Army Air Force during WW II with the 113thAF Base Unit, serving as military police. He spent seven and a half years with the reserves. Mr. Walker was employed by Macklet Laboratory for 16 years as an X-Ray assistant engineer and also worked for Duda and Goodwin as a machine operator. He was a member of the American Legion Post 155 in Woodbury and a member of the First Congregational Church of Woodbury.

Besides his wife, Dorothy Walker of Woodbury, CT, he leaves his two daughters, Susan Irene Collins of Spotsylvania, Fay Majory Rhodes of Framingham, MA, two half brothers, Ross Walker of Mt. Piller, ID, and Gary Walker of Yuma, AZ, five grandchildren and one great grandchild. Donald's extended family from Dorothy includes three step-sons: Edward Monroe of NC, Barry Monroe of CT, Daniel B. Monroe of CT, two step-daughters: Lynne Mikulka of CA, and Gail Ambadjes of CT, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, Woodbury, CT.

Services: Funeral services will take place Friday, February 4 at 11: 00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, 214 Main Street South, Woodbury, CT 06798.
