Mr. Donald W. Maloney, 79, beloved husband of Virginia (McMenamey) Maloney passed into eternal rest at his home on Sunday, December 14, 2008 surrounded by his immediate family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Erin Gardner and Keven Maloney, grandchildren, Brenna Gardner, Meriel Gardner, Cayla Maloney and Riley Maloney, his siblings, Elizabeth Palmucci, Mary Mahon and Patricia O'Donnell as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Donald was born on July 18, 1929 in ______the son of Goldie Beam and James Maloney, although he was raised by Agnes and Margaret Brickley. His formal education took place at Fairfield Prep, Southern Connecticut State College and his advanced degrees were from Fairfield University. He was a US Navy veteran having served four years with the Seabees during the Korean War. Following his service time, he began his career as a teacher and advanced to an elementary school Principal, high school Principal, assistant Superintendent and Superintendent of schools in Monroe. He retired after 35 years to enjoy winters at his home in Florida. He was a past member of Monroe Jaycees, President of the Monroe Exchange Club and a member of several educational organizations.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 45 Ash St., East Hartford, Ct 06108.

Funeral: Sacred Heart Church
Services: memorial mass in celebration of his life will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 910 Main St. South, Southbury on Saturday December 20th at 10am. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Monroe Center Cemetery.
