IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dennis John
Marklewitz
September 14, 1951 – February 11, 2025
Woodbury- Dennis John Marklewitz,73, passed away on February 11, 2025 at Danbury Hospital. He was the loving husband to Lori (Griffin) Marklewitz for 35 years.
Born on September 14, 1951, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Dennis was the son of William and Marcella (Abbott) Marklewitz. He grew up surrounded by the love of his family, alongside his siblings, Mary Jane Mozingo and William "Bucky" Marklewitz. Dennis's roots in Pittsburgh remained deep, even as he embarked on new adventures in Connecticut.
A hardworking man, Dennis spent many years laboring in the steel mills—a testament to his dedication and resilience. After the closures of these mills in 1989, he followed the winds of change to Connecticut, where fate played a delightful hand. A co-worker introduced him to Lori, and in this meeting, a beautiful partnership blossomed. From their union, they welcomed a beloved son, Brian, who was a source of immense pride and joy.
Beyond being a devoted husband and father, Dennis found fulfillment in his work as a traffic controller for New England Flagger Services. He took tremendous pride in his role, fostering connections with his community. Dennis also loved to play golf at Gainfield Farms Golf Course, where he found joy in the game and camaraderie among friends. On game days, you could find him proudly donning his Pittsburgh Steelers gear, a testament to his unwavering loyalty to his hometown team.
His visits back to Pittsburgh were filled with joyful reunions with family, reminding us all of the bonds that distance could never sever.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife Lori Marklewitz and son Brian Marklewitz. He will also be missed by many relatives and friends.
