Denise G. Bertrand, 74, of 140 Bateswood Rd., Waterbury, died Friday, July 31, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital.

Miss Bertrand was born April 3, 1935 in Waterbury, daughter of late Charles W. and Maxine (Mazzonovich) Bertrand. She grew up in Woodbury and graduated from Woodbury High School. She has resided in Waterbury for the past year, previously living in Brooklyn Heights, NY for many years.

She graduated from Drexel University in Philadelphia and from Goddard College in Vermont with a teaching degree. Miss Bertrand retired as Senior Associate Director of Regulatory Affairs from Lincoln Hospital, Bronx, NY after 40 years of service.

As an artist, she enjoyed painting and wood carving and was an avid owl collector.

She leaves a sister, Sandra Sherman, a niece and nephew, Elinor Gagne , Dale Hallock and his wife Connie, all of Waterbury, grandnephews Garey Gagne and Zachary Keefe, great grand nieces Katie and Jaime Gagne.

Services: A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 8th at noon at the Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 2 School St. Burial will be private.
