Debra (Debi) Ann McQueen passed away Monday, June 10, 2013, at Vitas Hospice Center at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury, Connecticut with her loving sister at her side, after fighting a courageous battle against cancer. Debi was born on March 31, 1961 in Waterbury, the loving daughter of James and Lorraine McQueen. Debi graduated from Wolcott High School in 1979, from Central Connecticut State University in 1983 with a BS degree, and from Los Angeles College of Chiropractic in 1987. She then returned to Connecticut, and practiced in various chiropractic offices. She was loved and respected by her many patients, as well as her colleagues. Most recently, she became the Assistant Tax Collector of the Town of Wolcott. The McQueen family has a history of service to the Wolcott Community. Debi's mother was Tax Collector of Wolcott for 38 years (now retired), and her sister Cheryl is presently Tax Collector. Additionally, her Uncle Frank and her Aunt Pat both served on the Wolcott Town Council. Aside from her parents, Debi is survived by her loving sons Zachary (17) and Griffin (15) Day of Goshen, CT; her sister Cheryl and her husband Tom Brundage of Wolcott, CT; her niece Alyssa (Brundage) and her husband Michael Aiello, as well as her great-nephew Michael Thomas Aiello of Jersey City, NJ; her Aunts and Uncles, Pat and Dave Yurgaitis of Wolcott, CT, Elaine and Tony Moffo of Milford, CT, Frank and Pat Cucolo of Wolcott, CT, Gregory and Angela Cucolo of Lexington, KY, Roger McQueen of Asheville, NC, Nick and Pam McQueen of Paris, KY, and Mary Coots of Lexington, KY; her former husband Frank Day of Goshen, CT; her loving cousins, Christine Jensen and Dave Thorn, Derek Yurgaitis and Jessica Polychronis, Sam and Nick Yurgaitis, Jennifer, Jay, and Mia Pawloski, Jessica Cucolo, Matthew Cucolo, Marissa Cucolo, Chase, Madison, and Carson Yurgaitis (children of her beloved cousin David Yurgaitis who passed away in 2008); and her California cousins Kathy, Kelly, and Tracy Cucolo. Debi will be truly missed by her many friends who sent her much love and prayers on a daily basis. Debi was predeceased in death by her Grandparents, Frank and Pauline Cucolo, Ora and Steve McQueen; her Uncles, Gary Cucolo, Eddie McQueen and Dean McQueen,; her Aunt Linda Lewis; and her cousin David Yurgaitis. The family would like to give special thanks to Pat and Dave Yurgaitis for their loving and compassionate care of Debi through her illness, and we would also like to thank the staff of Vitas Hospice Center at St. Mary's for their gentle and loving care of Debi in her final days.

Services: Memorial services will be held Thursday, June 13, 2013 at 1: 00 p.m. at the United Church of Christ, 283 Main St. North, Southbury. Burial is private.

Visitation: Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 235 Main St. North.
