IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David R.
York
July 21, 1950 – September 24, 2025
Southbury- David "Papa" York, 75, went home to meet his Lord on September 24, 2025. He was a kind and faithful servant to his family, friends, his God, and his country. He was always generous beyond measure with his time, talents, and gifts. David was born in Bangor, Maine on July 21, 1950, to his parents Ronald and Joyce (Robinson) York, who predeceased him. He was also predeceased by his son, David York.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 54 years Donna (LaFond) York, his son and "daughter" Shane and Kathryn (Femiak) York, and his greatest joy, his grandson Ezekiel York. He was also loved by his brothers and "sisters" Royce and Randy (Kazuba) York and Russell and Carol (DeSanto) York. He enjoyed being Uncle Dave to Dirk and Jeanine (LaFond) Hannon, Brett LaFond, Patrick York, David and Diane (York) Scofield, Royce York, Eric and Nichole (York) Kuna, Champ and Darby Hannon, Gabriel and Julie Scofield, and William and Kelly Kuna. He was fortunate to have his long and faithful friends John and Joyce DeBisschop and Gene and Eileen Bialek.
David was a proud U.S. Air Force Vietnam Veteran, honorably decorated with the National Defense Service Medal, USAF ribbon for 4 years of honorable service and AF Good Conduct Medal . He was an avid fisherman which he enjoyed doing with his best friend John. He and Donna were able to camp across the U.S. to all but 7 states and they visited 11 countries together. David loved to travel, especially with their RV and was afforded that opportunity due to a successful career and very early retirement. He was dedicated to his church family and served on several committees and was a Deacon at UCC Southbury.
