New Canaan- David Patrick Thompson ,80, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2022, at the Waveny Care Center in New Canaan, CT. David was the loving husband of Patricia (Brennan) Thompson for 53 years.
David was an incredibly hard worker that attained three masters degrees. He earned a degree in civil engineering from Manhattan College. He worked in the department of Public Works in Connecticut in Greenwich, Litchfield, and Bloomfield. He was a former president of the New England Chapter of the APWA. David retired from the town of Greenwich as the Deputy commissioner of Public Works. He had a love for fitness and specifically enjoyed swimming and yoga. His favorite place to retreat and relax was Nantucket Island, where he and his family vacationed each summer. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Besides being survived by his beautiful and loving wife Patricia, he was a proud father of his three sons, David, Chris and Seth, and his daughter, Kate. He is also survived by his loving sister, Kathryn Williams and her family. David also leaves behind his 4 grandkids, whom he adored, David, Jack, Christopher, and Ella.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday October 15, 2022 at Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home, 2 School St. Woodbury, CT 06798, from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm. A memorial service will begin at 12:00pm. Burial to follow at New North Cemetery in Woodbury.
