David C. Detlefsen, 63, a 30 year resident of Southbury, died Friday, September 23, 2011 at his home. He was the husband of Sharon A. Natusch Detlefsen. David was born November 30, 1947 in Waterbury, son of the late Clifford and Barbara Mack Detlefsen. David was a retired auto body technician having worked at Danbury VW & Audi, West Chevrolet in Woodbury and Classic Coach in Southbury. He was a veteran of the Navy, serving during the Viet Nam War and was a member of the George Newton VFW Post # 1607. He loved music and enjoyed playing the drums, keyboard and guitar. He also spent time boating and loved all kinds of animals and wildlife. He is survived by a daughter, Patricia Detlefsen Rinaldi Griffen of North Branford; a daughter, Heather Detlefsen Carman of Burlington; a son, Shawn Detlefsen and his wife Tabitha Detlefsen of Southbury; a sister, Carol Buckley of Naugatuck; 4 grandchildren, Kylea Rinaldi, Nicholas Weller, Tyler and Ryan Detlefsen a niece and a nephew and several cousins.

Funeral: Oxford Congregational Church
Services: Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 1 at 11: 00 a.m. at the Oxford United Church of Christ Congregational, 3 Academy Road. Burial will be in the Oxford Congregational Church Cemetery, Governors Hill Road, Oxford.
Visitation: Calling hours will be held Friday, September 30 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 235 Main St. North.
