David Alan DeBisschop, 55, died Tuesday, June 9th, 2015 at home. He was the husband of Barbara Morgan DeBisschop. David was born March 10, 1960 in El Paso, Texas, son of Jean Halstead DeBisschop of Oxford and the late John F. DeBisschop, Sr. David was a 1978 graduate of Seymour High School and graduated from Herkimer County Community College in Herkimer, NY and the Simmons School of Mortuary Science in Syracuse, NY. He has been employed as a funeral director for 35 years with Munson-Lovetere Funeral Homes in Southbury and Woodbury. Growing up in Oxford, he was active in Little League and the local basketball leagues. He was a former member of Boy Scout Troop 1 in Oxford , earning the rank of Eagle in 1978. He later volunteered as an Assistant Scout Master and member of the troop committee. David was a veteran member of the Oxford Center Volunteer Fire Company No. 1. He served as secretary, 2nd Lieutenant and a member of the Board of Directors. He formerly served on the Oxford Park & Recreation Board, the Board of Tax Review and as Director of the Civil Defense. David was a former member and Deacon of the Oxford Congregational Church and was an active member of The Congregational Church of Naugatuck, where he was a former Deacon and co-advisor for the high school youth group and a current member of the bell choir and Personnel Committee. An avid outdoorsman, David enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Waterbury Fish and Game Club. He was a fan of the NY Yankees, the NY Giants and NASCAR. He loved to travel, enjoying cruising and trips to Bar Harbor, Maine and Acadia National Park. Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by a step son, Anthony Falcone of Florida; a step daughter Morgan Falcone of Oxford; two brothers, John F. DeBisschop Jr. and his wife Joyce, of Naugatuck and Carl R. DeBisschop and his wife Lucy of Weybridge, VT; two sisters, his twin sister, Laura Mae DeBisschop Brennan and her husband Michael of Beacon Falls and Linda Curtis of Oklahoma; 8 nephews, 2 nieces; 6 great nephews and 2 great nieces, and his Yellow Lab Cadie.

Funeral: Naugatuck Congregational Church

Services: Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 13th, 2015 at 11: 00 A.M. at the Naugatuck Congregational Church, 9 Division St. Naugatuck. Burial will follow in New North Cemetery in Woodbury.

Visitation: Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 12th, 2015 from 4 to 8 pm at the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 235 Main St. North.
