Dana Gingras, 71, of Southbury, formerly of Morris, CT & Mooresville, NC passed away peacefully at home on October 10, 2019 after a 19 year journey living with Parkinson's Disease.
Dana was the devoted husband of Lynne (Gardecki) Gingras for 49 years, supportive father of Nicole (Gingras) Dooley (Adam), Dana Gingras (Diane), David Gingras (Angela) and Michelle (Gingras) Young (Jeff). He leaves five grandchildren; Hailey, Kaitlyn, Acacia, Addison and Emilia.
Dana was born on September 14, 1948 to the late Jean Paul and Jacqueline (Bessette) Gingras. He also leaves a sister, Pauline (Gingras) Edwards, a nephew, Eric Edwards and niece, Amanda Edwards.
Mr. Gingras was the past owner of D+L Variety & Gifts in Woodbury and D+L Remodeling Contractor in Morris. After retirement, he went on to build Andre Christine Art Gallery in Mooresville, NC.
Dana attended Waterbury State Technical College and Bristol Central High School. He served as an electrician in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Dana was an extensive woodworker and hobby artist know for his wooden boxes and toys. He was affectionately known as the 'Mr. Fix It' in every neighborhood he's lived in.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the RVNAhealth (Hospice) or The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research in Dana's honor. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday October 12, 2019 at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Church, 910 Main St. S, Southbury. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
