''Lisa'' Krum

WOODBURY
Clara E. Krum, 84, of Woodbury died Thursday, February 7th, 2013, at Waterbury Hospital. Clara (known as Lisa) Elisabeth Grundtvig was born on August 8, 1928 in Copenhagen, Denmark. Lisa had a wonderful childhood with her two older siblings, Astrid and Frederik, both now deceased. Lisa graduated from Teilman's College in Copenhagen with a degree in Physical Therapy and moved to the United States in 1952. After first working in New York City and Pennsylvania, Lisa studied at the University of Connecticut in Storrs in order to obtain her license to practice as a physical therapist in Connecticut. She worked for 35 dedicated years as a physical therapist at the Fairfield Hills Hospital in Newtown, Connecticut, from where she retired due to multiple sclerosis. In 1958 she bought her house in the historic Hotchkissville section of Woodbury. She met her future husband Per (Peter), a Danish born Argentine citizen, at the Argentine embassy in New York City and saw him again on several visits Lisa made to Argentina to visit her cousin, the Danish ambassador to Argentina. After two years of correspondence, Peter moved to Woodbury where he and Lisa married in 1976, enjoying 27 years of happily married life until Peter's death in 2003. Now she will join Peter in the Rose Garden. Lisa was one of the founders of the International Club in Newtown, Ct. Lisa was an animal and nature lover and loved to be outdoors tending her flower gardens and enjoyed making candles, sewing, knitting, and entertaining her friends. She was most fond of her last two dogs, Heidi, now deceased, and Schultz, who has been and will continue to be cared for by her devoted neighbor Eva Jasper, who was an enormous help to Lisa for many years. Lisa also enjoyed playing golf, bridge and dominos. In her later years, although not mobile due to multiple sclerosis, Lisa remained upbeat, positive and engaged, always answering 'I'm wonderful'
