IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Claire Jean
Keilty
October 10, 1947 – April 1, 2014
Ms. Claire Jean Keilty, 66, of Southbury died on April 1, 2014 following a brief illness. Ms. Keilty was born on October 10, 1947 in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Frederick Edward Keilty of Watertown and Grace Lawlor Keilty of Waterbury. Claire moved to Southbury Training School at the age of nine and lived in her current home of 40 Yankee Drive since 2007. Claire greatly enjoyed vacations at Cape Harkness in Waterford and loved the long walks on the beach and watching the ocean. She enjoyed Bingo with the Columbiette's of Sacred Heart Church and the New Haven Quota Club. Claire was a "people watcher"; she was a great judge of character and compassion. Her hugs were strong and heartfelt. Claire liked to shop and look good. Ms. Keilty leaves her sister Nancy Keilty Jamison and her husband Lyle of Santa Clarita, California; her brothers Peter Keilty and his wife Beverly of Portsmouth, Virginia and Frederick Keilty and his wife Patricia of Norfolk, Virginia. She also leaves her advocates of the STS Foundation and her family friend, Ms. Peggy O'Neill. Claire's beautiful blue eyes and soulful expressions captured the hearts of many. The family wants to express our enduring thanks and gratitude to the staff at Southbury Training School who have loved Claire like a member of their own family and cared for her many needs over the years. Claire was fortunate to find such a wonderful home for these last 57 years. Claire will be missed by her family and by all of her friends at 40 Yankee Drive, Southbury.
