It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our sister, Cindy Wargo, who left us peacefully on January 21, 2026, at the age of 63.
Cindy was born on March 10, 1962, in Waterbury, Connecticut, to George and Jean Wargo. She graduated from Nonnewaug High School and went on to spend more than 40 years working in the restaurant business. For over 30 of those years, she worked side by side in the kitchen with her longtime friend, Marianne Barsi. Most recently, Cindy worked in the cafeteria at Region 14 School District and managed the Apple Shack for Hidden Gem Orchard in Southbury, where she was known for her dedication and the camaraderie she shared with customers.
Cindy was generous, hardworking, and the family’s go-to chef, always baking homemade cakes and cooking for holidays and special occasions. Known for her quick wit and great sense of humor, she loved to make people laugh. She was a loyal fan of the UCONN women’s basketball team and the New York Yankees and enjoyed nothing more than a day at the beach soaking up the sun.
Cindy is survived by her three sisters, Gail Golden (Al Fichtel), Jean Wargo, and Joan Wargo; her two brothers, George Wargo and James Wargo; her nephew, Ryan Golden; her three nieces, Jaime Golden, Emily Wargo, and Mary (Pidgey) Wargo; her great-niece, Ella Gauthier; several cousins; an aunt and uncle; and her beloved dog, Lily.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Jean Wargo; her sister, Cheryl Salokas; her longtime friend, Marianne Barsi; her dog, Sami; and several aunts and uncles, including Uncle Mick, with whom she shared a special bond.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, February 7th, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home, 2 School Street, Woodbury, CT. A dedication will take place at 12:30 p.m.
Our lives are better for having loved her, and we will carry Cindy with us always.
