Obituary

Chris Taylor passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 in a tragic car accident. Chris was born in Jacksonville, Florida but grew up in the family's hometown of Woodbury, CT. Though he would go on to live for a time in Oregon and Florida, Chris lived in the Woodbury-Bethlehem area for most of his life.

Chris had a talent for fixing and caring for treasures. When he was 10 years old, he began collecting Victrolas and restoring them. Whether it was a car or a refrigerator, he would listen and then somehow be able make it work. Overtime, his expertise moved on to cars, especially Saabs. His friends have stories of stopping by and finding him swapping out a motor or figuring out a head scratching mechanical problem.

To family and friends, Chris was known as a caring and sensitive soul; someone who would take the time to muse about life and life's lessons. He was a thinker and easy to talk with as he was always so present and attentive. He would often reflect on conversations he had had with you, sometimes reminding you years later of a moment shared. Chris cared deeply for his friends and family and had a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature and our earth. Chris leaves behind many close friends who loved him dearly, and who became part of his extended family throughout his life.

Chris's family is heartbroken at his passing. He leaves behind his sister Lisa Creighton and, husband, Jack of Cohasset, MA; his stepmother Melba Taylor of Jacksonville, FLA, and his cousins across the country: Charlie (Priscilla) Hinkley, Lucy Littlejohn and Alexandrea Taylor; Dale Plummer, John Plummer and Dana Plummer. Chris was preceded in death by his mother Nancy Bennington, his father Edward Taylor, his brother Barth Doroshuk, his aunts Alice Branson and Judy Plummer.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be on October 22, 2022, at 12:00 pm at the Sugar House located at Flanders Nature Center, Church Hill Road, Woodbury, CT. Walking trails and gardens are open before and after the service.

A graveside committal for family and close friends will be held at the Woodbury New North Cemetery on October 22, 2022 at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, donations in the memory of Chris Taylor may be made to the Woodbury Meditation and Yoga Center www.woodburyogacenter.org.
