IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Christine (Engelke)
Perrin Goddard
December 1, 1914 – March 11, 2016
Christine (Engelke) Perrin Goddard, age 101, died with peace and dignity at her Southbury home early Friday morning after a brief period of declining health. She was a resident of Watermark at East Hill.
She is survived by a son, Peter Perrin, of Coos Bay, OR; a daughter, Nancy (Perrin) Jandl of Concord, MA; a daughter-in-law, Theresa Aiosa, of Cambridge, VT; and three grandchildren, David Perrin of Vancouver, WA; Gabrielle Aiosa-Perrin of New York, NY; and Caleb-Aiosa-Perrin of Cambridge, VT.
She also leaves a nephew, Gregory Herr, and his wife Judith Herr, of Tuftonboro, NH and Enfield, CT. and two grandnieces.
She is predeceased by a son, David Aiosa-Perrin; a daughter, Cynthia Perrin; a grandson, Robert Perrin.
Born in Waterbury, CT, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Charles Engelke and Bertha (Hart) Engelke. She graduated from St. Margaret's School in Waterbury, and she was a proud and enthusiastic alumna of Wellesley College, class of 1936.
She married Badger Perrin, of Melrose MA., in 1938. They settled first in Winchester, MA, and together they raised their four children. In the following years, they moved first to Woodbury and later to Roxbury. Upon Badger's death in 1990, she moved to a newly-built East Hill Woods, where she was one of its first residents.
In 1997, at the age of 81, Chris married a life-long friend, Dr. Francis Goddard, of Seattle, WA. They divided their time between Seattle and Southbury for many years and enjoyed the company of their families and many friends. Dr. Goddard died at East Hill Woods in 2006.
Chris's Christian faith was strong and deep. For decades she was an active member of the Woodbury Congregational Church. She was known by her friends as a warm and generous woman who asked little for herself and contributed much to the happiness and well-being of others. At Watermark she was known and loved by the staff as well as by many fellow residents.
