IN LOVING MEMORY OF

Obituary

Chris Martin was our wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and our very best friend. She was born in Indianapolis, IN but spent most of her young life at Edwards Air Force Base in California. That's where she met her beloved husband of 54 years, Paul. They raised their four girls in Southern California, then moved to Connecticut, where they've lived for 24 years. Chris loved Connecticut with all its beautiful trees, many green colors, and flowers everywhere. It's a landscape that mirrors her artistic soul. She was an amazing artist with an eye for symmetry and elegant simplicity.

The picture we chose to share with you reflects two of the things that most define her–creativity and family. She found this painting stored somewhere in the house just a few weeks ago. Her girls were her life and she was volunteering in their elementary school so often that she became lifelong friends with many wonderful teachers. She drew this banner freehand for a school Jog-a-thon in 1987. She was a very modest person but proudly showed this to us after she found it.

Chris was fiercely loyal to her family, and to those who were her friends. Our beautiful Christine loved people, and people loved her. The only thing she ever really wanted was time with family and friends. Having grandchildren was a joy and she spoiled them rotten, as we all knew she would. The memories that remain with us are full of laughter and love.

We are so proud of our Christine. She gave her love freely to all, and she never asked for anything in return. She was the heart of our family, and we miss her greatly. We have a hole in our heart that can never be filled.

Chris leaves Paul, our four wonderful girls, Heather, Holly, Hillery and Hope, their terrific husbands, and our incredible eight grandchildren. Chris also leaves her loving sister, Stephanie Robinson and her family.

Chris was a born caregiver, and her passion is helping children with special needs. She believed in ALL children, and she served her life helping young ones that could not help themselves. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Special Education Legal Fund, spedlegalfund.org .
