Chris H. Olsen Sr., 73, passed away on Friday September 12, 2025. Born May 29, 1952 the son of Clarence and Lillian Olsen, he grew up and raised his own children in Oxford. His pride was the home he built on the farm where he grew up. Chris cherished the simple pleasures of putzing around on his tractor and sharing all that his farm had to offer everyone. These moments became lasting memories that will be cherished by all who were lucky enough to spend time with him.

Chris loved animals, especially his two dogs, mischievous cats, goats, and mini horse, all of whom brought him joy—and perhaps a touch of gentle annoyance! Long rides and good music always made him happy.  Beyond his love for the land and animals, Chris was also dedicated to his work. He was a long-time truck driver with S&S Paving until his retirement, forging lasting friendships within the industry.

Chris loved spending time with friends, telling stories, lots of stories! He made everyone feel like a lifelong friend, even if you had just met him that day. That was his gift; he ensured everyone felt welcome.

Chris leaves behind his children Chris H. Olsen Jr., his wife Karin and their children Brayden and Harper, Jennifer Olsen Gura, her husband James and their children Lillian and Emily, his life partner, Doreen Stanton and her children Hope and Walker. Chris also leaves his siblings Maren Gurevich, her husband Dennis, James Olsen, his wife Karen and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Sunday September 28, 2025 from 8:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M with a service beginning at 10:00 A.M., at Munson Lovetere Funeral Home, 235 Main St. North, Southbury. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Make a Wish Foundation.
