Charles Shortt, 86, of Heritage Village formerly of Waterbury died Friday July 12th, 2013 at Danbury Hospital. Charles was born November 6, 1926 in Jersey City, NJ the son of the late Charles J. and Margaret (McIntyre) Shortt and brother to the late Margaret Shortt whom passed away Sept 2005. He is survived by his brother Robert Shortt of Florida as well as nieces and nephews. Charles grew up on his family's farm on Bucks Hill Rd in Waterbury. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the United States Navy serving in World War II from 1944 - 1946. Later he was a machinist in the local factories around Waterbury until 1980 when he took ownership of his family's business Shortt's Market on East Main Street in Waterbury from 1980 - 2002.
