Charles Peter Pollini, of Southbury, CT, and longtime resident of Briarcliff Manor, NY, died on July 31, 2021.
The first of two sons by Louis Constantino Pollini and Elena Romagnese, he was born in the Arthur Avenue section of The Bronx on January 11, 1931. His upbringing instilled in him three passions in life: family, fine cuisine, and the performing arts.
Charles entered the Navy during the Korean War, then briefly attended the University of Miami. When he was a young man, he actively pursued roles in theater.
In 1954, Charles met Ruth Dahl of The Bronx, NY, and they married that same year. He had two daughters, Lisa and Cara. Charles and his family briefly lived in Dobbs Ferry, NY and later moved to Briarcliff Manor, NY where he raised his children. He was a loving and adoring husband for over 50 years.
Charles grew to be an active and prolific restaurateur in the New York metropolitan area. By 1961, and with his parents, he opened Pollini's Ristorante of Westchester, in Briarcliff Manor, NY. The Pollini family owned and operated several restaurants over twenty five years. Other notable restaurants include The Bistro in Mahopac, NY, Biaggio's in the Bronx, and Steffini in Irvington, NY.
After retiring, Charles had been a resident of Southbury, CT for almost thirty years.
Charles is survived by his daughter, Lisa Murphy of Pleasantville, NY. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Brian O'Hagan Jr. of Bronxville, NY, Sean O'Hagan of Queens, NY, Kelly Hannon of Thornwood, NY, and Kathleen Utschig of Stamford, CT. Charles is also survived by three great-grandsons, Charles Hannon, Liam Hannon, and Carter Utschig and one great-granddaughter, Caroline O'Hagan.
Charles is predeceased by his beloved Ruth, his daughter Cara Pollini, his brother Ronald Pollini, his grandson Connor O'Hagan, and his parents, Louis and Elena.
