Obituary

Charles Edward Eager, 80, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 6th, 2012 at his home in Bethlehem, CT. He was born November 19th, 1931 in Syracuse, N.Y. to Donald Ure and Mildred Kime Eager and had been a Bethlehem resident since 1987.

A 1951 graduate of Syracuse Central High School, Charles attended S.U.N.Y. College of Environmental Science and Forestry where he served as cadet commander in the Air Force R.O.T.C. He was commissioned a 2nd Lt. in the USAF upon his graduation.

Charles and his wife, Nancy McCall, also of Syracuse were deployed to Spokane and Tacoma, WA where he served as a fighter pilot in the 498th FIS. His military career also included several tours as an exchange pilot with US Navy VF-213 aboard the USS Hancock. Upon leaving active duty in 1966 he flew for Pan Am and United Airlines until his retirement in 1994.

To his great sadness Charles was pre-deceased by his wife Nancy in 1994. He is survived by his three children; Karen of Lowell MA, Donald of Milford CT and James of Cheshire CT, three sisters Julia of Buffalo NY, Barbara of Fairhope AL and Donna of Pittsburgh PA, four grandchildren; Catherine, Timothy, James and Alex, seven nieces, a nephew, and their children as well as his faithful companion Penelope his golden retriever.

Services: A memorial service will be held at the grave site in Evergreen Cemetery in Cazenovia, NY on Saturday, June 16th at 11: 30 a.m. to be followed immediately by a gathering at the parish hall of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Mill Street Cazenovia.

Visitation: There are no calling hours.
